ABOUT ME

Clinical Background
My training includes two Doctor of Psychology degrees. The first was in psychology. It gave me a broad background in clinical work and allowed me to become a licensed psychologist (California license PSY19679). The second one was in psychoanalysis. This involved another five years of specialized training, plus intensive clinical work on how to help people change most deeply.

In addition to my private practice I also teach. I am a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst as well as a member of the faculty at the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute. In the past I taught clinical graduate students at USC and CGI (now the Chicago School). Clinical courses I have taught include:

Creativity Background
Prior to my clinical training I worked as an artist, designer, and design manager. I hold a BA in fine arts and a BS in industrial design. My doctoral dissertation in psychology addressed the internal experience of creative process. In addition I taught design and creativity courses in several settings, including CSULB.

My work included a range of business environments—from startups to bureaucracies—leaving me with a deep understanding and appreciation for what it takes to succeed in the real world.
