Dealing with Difference

People sometimes worry about whether a therapist will understand them. For example, it might be uncomfortable to discuss:

  • Things you’ve never shared
  • Culture, race, or religion
  • Gender or sexuality
  • History of trauma
  • Desires to self-harm
  • Distinctive lifestyle

An important part of our work is for me to understand the world through your eyes. I will listen closely to help me accurately appreciate the challenges you face and to recognize how your life has shaped you.

"Thank you so much for all you have done for me. You are amazing! You believed in me and gave me my self-confidence back."
